Grammy award winning  singer Whitney Houston was found dead in her Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel room earlier today. She was 48.

the cause of death is still unknown but Houston was reportedly discovered by singer Ray J, the two were allegedly romantically involved at an earlier time.

Houston was once known to be one of the top selling recording artists in the industry during the 1980′s and 90′s with singles such as “I Will Always Love You” and “How Will I Know.” The Singer also made a film debut in “The Bodyguard” alongside Kevin Costner. However, highly publicized stints in rehab, drugs relapses and marital issues with ex-husband Bobby Brown, led to her dissent into obscurity.

Despite being the standard set for many current female vocalists, the singers voice had reportedly become raspy and hoarse in recent years.

Houston is survived by her daughter Bobbi Christina.
