Box Office Numbers: Summer 2010
The mind-bender Inception was number one again at the weekend box office. The newcomer Salt comes in at a close second.
According to BoxOfficeMojo.com, Inception made $43,505,000 in its second weekend, which is a 30.7% decrease from last weekend’s earnings, putting its total gross at $143,663,000. Inception just needs $16,337,000 to earn its $160 million budget back.
Following close behind was Salt, the spy-action smash starring Angelina Jolie as an accused double agent. Salt earned $36,500,000 in its first weekend at the box office.
Moving down a spot from number two was Despicable Me, the animated feature starring Steve Carell, earning $24,100,000 in its third weekend at the box office–giving it a total of $161,700,000 in earnings.
Coming in fourth in its second weekend was The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, earning $9,685,000, a 45% decrease from last weekend, putting its total gross at $42,643,000.
Rounding out the top five was Toy Story 3 in its fifth week. Toy Story 3 earned $9,030,000, giving it a total gross of $379,529,000 at the box office.
